Employee Compensation
We applaud the recent (2022) pay increases that NOLS has implemented across the board, as it has affected lower-wage employees in a positive way. This pay increase was a good first step, but it cannot be the last as we need to continue to increase compensation for front-line employees. NOLS is in the service industry, and if NOLS is to continue to thrive, then it must continue to invest in its greatest asset, its people. From HQ employees admitting students, to the kitchen staff at the location, to the faculty that teach the students in the field and classroom, these employees are NOLS’ greatest asset, and the reason why students are attracted to our programs. We call on NOLS to continue to see its front-line employees as its greatest assets and set a goal of paying these employees comparable wages to the rest of the outdoor industry.
